Septage Disposal - Brownville Wastewater Treatment
Facility
Septage Disposal
The Septage Disposal site
for the disposal of all the septage generated in
Brownville was constructed in 1991 adjacent to the
Brownville Wastewater Treatment Facility. The site is
designed to handle septage from the treatment facility,
the unsewered Brownville Junction community, and the
Village Wastewater treatment facilities described
earlier. It is estimated that the treatment facility,
which serves most of Brownville Junction, will generate
an estimated 44,000 gallons of septage per year. The
unsewered portion of Brownville junction served by
individual private septic systems will generate
approximately 16,800 gallons of septage a year. The
Brownville Village septic systems generate an average
septage volume of 23,300 gallons per year. The site was
designed to handle a total septage volume of 113,000
gallons per year.
The
septage disposal area consists of two 1 acre parcels on
which septage will be applied alternately.
Septage Handling
Septic
tanks range in size from 1,000 gallons to 10,000 gallons
and are provided for septage storage in the Village. The
depth of septage in the tanks is measured with a sludge
judge and are recorded on a regular basis for the large
Tanks, (C,G and J) and on a yearly basis for the other
systems.
