Brownville, Maine
The purpose of the Brownville, Maine Wastewater
Treatment Facility is to protect public health and the
environment by conveying and treating Brownville's
wastewater. Brownville, Maine residents agreed in 1985
to build and operate the Brownville Wastewater
Subsurface Disposal Treatment
Plant to help clean the polluted waters of the Pleasant
River. Since then, the Town of Brownville has helped to prevent
water pollution and improve water quality while
recycling and reusing natural resources.
Effective
wastewater
treatment is critical to the quality of life and the
physical health of Brownville residents and visitors. It
not only protects people who use local beaches and
waterways for swimming, fishing and other recreational
activities, it also protects local wildlife and their
habitats. |
